Eve's Time: Lost In Translation
Ding dong, ding dong. Olivia was awakened out of her comatose sleep. Obviously the doorbell had been ringing for some time now - first appearing in her nightmare as an ambulance siren, but now awakening her back into reality. “I’m coming,” she responded as she forced herself out of bed to go to her front door.
“Child you scared me half to death, I’ve been calling and calling you. Why you ain’t answering yo phone?” Olivia’s mother came barging into the house with her true southern accent that usually only came out when she was angry.
“Ma, where are the kids?” Olivia asked her mother with irritation in her tone.
“They in the car. I needed to check things out with you first. God forbid them babies from seeing anymore tragedy in their young lives,” her mother said as she pushed right past Olivia, looking around as if Olivia were hiding something.

Eve's Time: A Fish Out of Water
James Patterson appeared from the Cook County courthouse’s holding cell area wearing a tan-colored shirt and pants with capital, bold, black letters “DOC”, which stood for Department of Corrections, written on the back. His hair was braided in unneat lines of cornrows, much different from the wild afro he had on the last day of his freedom almost four weeks ago. Eve smiled inwardly thinking of James sitting between the muscular legs of a fellow male inmate nicknamed Killah getting his hair did. Eve and James raised their right hands, as much as one could still being handcuffed, and swore before God and the court to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth. She knew that the judge didn’t really want to hear the whole truth; she wasn’t sure if she even knew the truth anymore. The two jilted lovers, occasionally talking over one another, gave their final accounts of that miserable evening the previous month that landed James behind bars and Eve in the hospital. They both stood there with visible and invisible scars from that evening. Although their physical scars had mostly healed, they were still fighting – James for his freedom, Eve for her sanity.

Eve's Time: Fallen Angels...Martin's Intro
The sun streamed through Martin’s bedroom window like an unwelcome relative from out of town, bothersome yet familiar. His eyes refused to stay open and his breath offended his nose without apology. “Oh God,” Martin thought. “Not again, I might have a drinking problem.” Martin forced his eyes open and looked directly at the offending window, the one allowing the sun to stream in, and let his mind drift. Martin Luther Johnson was the son of a Pentecostal Pastor whose shadow was so immense that Martin could never escape it. Martin Sr. started a church at the tender age of twenty-one and by the time God called him home the church had grown to ten thousand members.

Eve's Time: Olivia's Introduction
“You know you can’t lay in bed forever, Love, it’s time to get up.” Olivia could hear her husband, Jackson, speaking to her as she lay lifeless in their king-sized bed. The sun was invading the privacy of their bedroom and the privacy of her sleep. The sun’s rays rested relentlessly on her face as she kept her eyes closed and pretended that she was still asleep.
